How would you reform surveillance law, oversight and practice to respect the rights of law-abiding people?

organisation: Open Rights Group (ORG)

This is an example of the power of the state and big money to control us, the people. In democratic socialism we the people will be in charge so any surveillance will be consensual. Vote socialist to show your opposition to the current system of vested interests

Britain spends £24 billion on housing benefit and less than £1.5 billion on building homes. Do you support an increase in the social housebuilding grant to £5 billion a year to build homes?

organisation: Generation Rent

As a short term measure but see my answer above

To what degree should access to information on the internet be restricted by the state or private companies?

organisation: Open Rights Group (ORG)

to no degree. We should collectively decide what we can or cannot see, although my inclination is towards free access

The right of parents to remain with their children in hospital has been established for over forty years. How would you ensure carers of people with dementia are equally welcome in hospital?

organisation: John's Campaign

Hard to say, really. I advocate socialism - which is not salvation. Yhere will still be problems but I suspect we will be able to resolve them more easily.

Should people in Scotland and Northern Ireland have the same free speech protections from libel bullies as their neighbours in England and Wales?

organisation: English PEN

My understanding is that libel laws favour the rich. However I am in favour of scrapping our entire legal system so perhaps I am oblique to the premise of this question. Maybe I don't follow the question...sorry

Private sector landlords receive over £27bn a year in housing benefit and tax breaks. Would you support a rent tax that recouped up to a third of this to fund new housing supply?

organisation: Generation Rent

a short term palliative - the real answer is gto get rid of landlords

Recent polling show that people support rent control by a margin of nine to one. Do you support a rent control that limits rent rises between tenancies as well as during tenancies?

organisation: Generation Rent

The housing/property/rental system in the UK is a superb example of the markets. The wealthy do well and the poor suffer. Rent controls merely soothe the problem. Abolish capitalism and remove the real cancer

The standards of goods and services that are essential, such as food and water, are generally highly regulated. Do you support enforced minimum standards in housing as a precondition of a renting?

organisation: Generation Rent

For now, yes, but longer term we need to rid ourselves of landlords. Being able to evict someone is an egregious exercise of power over people. Scrap capitalism.

Governments implement policies that directly and indirectly impact on house prices. Do you think house prices are too high?

organisation: Generation Rent

Of course - the total supposed value of property in this country dwarfs the GDP - it is indicative of the stupidity of this market system. see previous answers

Would you support the creation of a Royal Commission to review Britain’s drug laws?

organisation: CISTA

probably not: the government would ignore it. We need a socialist state where the people decide what they can do
