How would you reform surveillance law, oversight and practice to respect the rights of law-abiding people?

organisation: Open Rights Group (ORG)

The Socialist Party of Great Britain advocates a world without borders whose resources are democratically controlled by the people of the earth, with free access to all goods and services and labour contributed voluntarily according to an individual's abilities. The requirement for surveillance of individuals would be ended along with the centralised state and private corporations which are the key cornerstones of a profit-driven society. Laws would be freely agreed by the people of the earth and would not entail coercion of any kind (since, without money, and with free individuals, the means for coercion no longer exist).

To what degree should access to information on the internet be restricted by the state or private companies?

organisation: Open Rights Group (ORG)

The Socialist Party of Great Britain advocates a world without borders whose resources are democratically controlled by the people of the earth, with free access to all goods and services and labour contributed voluntarily according to an individual's abilities. In such a society there would be neither a state, nor private companies, and the internet would be an essential tool in encouraging the global exchange of information on useful production and a forum for democratic decision making on a local and global scale. Because this society we advocate would not require the use of money - it is a world based on free access and co-operation - all forms of criminal exploitation based on profit will also be ended, meaning there will be no need to deny anyone free access to the internet

The right of parents to remain with their children in hospital has been established for over forty years. How would you ensure carers of people with dementia are equally welcome in hospital?

organisation: John's Campaign

The Socialist Party of Great Britain advocates a world without borders whose resources are democratically controlled by the people of the earth, with free access to all goods and services and labour contributed voluntarily according to an individual's abilities. In such a society, lack of money will no longer be a barrier to providing the best possible care for all people with dementia. Hospitals and community care centers will be very different places, run not under the constraints of profitability, but by those who want to care for the sick, and this will include relatives.

Should people in Scotland and Northern Ireland have the same free speech protections from libel bullies as their neighbours in England and Wales?

organisation: English PEN

The Socialist Party of Great Britain advocates a world without borders whose resources are democratically controlled by the people of the earth, with free access to all goods and services and labour contributed voluntarily according to an individual's abilities. In this society it will be the democratic rights of all individuals to exercise free speech without restraint from corporate interests

The standards of goods and services that are essential, such as food and water, are generally highly regulated. Do you support enforced minimum standards in housing as a precondition of a renting?

organisation: Generation Rent

The Socialist Party of Great Britain advocates a world whose resources are owned and democratically controlled by the people of the earth, with free access to all goods and services and labour contributed voluntarily according to an individual's abilities. In this society, housing, along with all other goods and services, would be the unquestioned right of all. Because this will be a society without the artificial rationing of money, and where the performance of useful work will be open to everyone, we will build to the highest standards and not the shoddy structures we see going up today. Individuals would be free to move and live anywhere in the world where useful work needs to be done, and the internet would provide the perfect way to find free accommodation in much the same way as couch surfing sites and Air b'b do today (though of course without money changing hands - since we will have abolished the need for money).

Governments implement policies that directly and indirectly impact on house prices. Do you think house prices are too high?

organisation: Generation Rent

The Socialist Party of Great Britain advocates a world without borders in which the resources of the earth are owned and democratically controlled by the people of the earth, with free access to all goods and services and labour contributed voluntarily according to an individual's abilities. In such a world we will build houses because they need to be built, and not because it is profitable for some individual or corporation.
