The standards of goods and services that are essential, such as food and water, are generally highly regulated. Do you support enforced minimum standards in housing as a precondition of a renting?

organisation: Generation Rent

Governments implement policies that directly and indirectly impact on house prices. Do you think house prices are too high?

organisation: Generation Rent

Would you support the creation of a Royal Commission to review Britain’s drug laws?

organisation: CISTA

Yes, our drug laws desperately need changing.

How would you reform surveillance law, oversight and practice to respect the rights of law-abiding people?

organisation: Open Rights Group (ORG)

The Green Party believes that organised mass surveillance must be opposed. The Green Party will campaign against such surveillance. As to how I would reform the surveillance law at the present time I have not the knowledge to answer but if elected this is something I would find out about in accordance with my party's and my own beliefs outlined above.

To what degree should access to information on the internet be restricted by the state or private companies?

organisation: Open Rights Group (ORG)

I believe that there has to be some way of policing the internet to stop the sort of abuses and crimes which are encouraged by internet sharing, in particular things like child pornography and abuse. How that is done is a difficult question if the internet providers are not prepared to monitor and close down such sites themselves - which would of course be the ideal solution.

The right of parents to remain with their children in hospital has been established for over forty years. How would you ensure carers of people with dementia are equally welcome in hospital?

organisation: John's Campaign

I believe that there should be equal parity between carers of children and carers of adults with dementia. I know how confusing and difficult it is for dementia sufferers to be in hospital without any familiar faces or surroundings and this can lead to problems with their treatment and ultimately exacerbate their condition. Although there is no policy on this in the Green Party manifesto I do believe it is something that we would commit to changing in all hospitals as it totally makes sense.

Recent polling show that people support rent control by a margin of nine to one. Do you support a rent control that limits rent rises between tenancies as well as during tenancies?

organisation: Generation Rent

The Green Party wants to reform the private rented sector by introducing a "living rent" tenancy (including five year fixed tenancy agreements), rent control that caps annual rent increases linked to the CPI and security of tenancy, so I think that is a "yes" to the question!

Britain spends £24 billion on housing benefit and less than £1.5 billion on building homes. Do you support an increase in the social housebuilding grant to £5 billion a year to build homes?

organisation: Generation Rent

The Green Party wants to build 500,000 socially rented home by increasing the social housing budget to £6billion a year in the lifetime of the parliament and removing borrowing caps from local councils

Private sector landlords receive over £27bn a year in housing benefit and tax breaks. Would you support a rent tax that recouped up to a third of this to fund new housing supply?

organisation: Generation Rent

Yes the Green Party has already said that it would abolish land lord perks such as tax deductions against expenditure and mortgage interest relief to help fund its house building plans.
