Should people in Scotland and Northern Ireland have the same free speech protections from libel bullies as their neighbours in England and Wales?

organisation: English PEN

I see no reason why all parts of teh UK should have the same free speech protections.

Recent polling show that people support rent control by a margin of nine to one. Do you support a rent control that limits rent rises between tenancies as well as during tenancies?

organisation: Generation Rent

Rent controls and longer term tenancies I beleive would benifit both tenants and landlords inthe long term. Tenants need greater protection and landlords need to be able to make long term projections regarding their business. As such I agree with rent controls.

The standards of goods and services that are essential, such as food and water, are generally highly regulated. Do you support enforced minimum standards in housing as a precondition of a renting?

organisation: Generation Rent

There should be a minimum standard of housing for renters. This should be a part of policies stabilising the rental sector providing more security for tenants and also allowing good landlord to plan thier business with regard to regualted minimum standards.

Britain spends £24 billion on housing benefit and less than £1.5 billion on building homes. Do you support an increase in the social housebuilding grant to £5 billion a year to build homes?

organisation: Generation Rent

The Green Party would build 500000 houses by 2050. On this basis I would agree with this policy

Private sector landlords receive over £27bn a year in housing benefit and tax breaks. Would you support a rent tax that recouped up to a third of this to fund new housing supply?

organisation: Generation Rent

The lettings business should be treated bo differently from any other business. Taxing aspects of it, changing tenancy agreements, rent controls will not help tenants unless a simple formula is determined based on: Level of rent with enforcable rent controls and minimum standards for dwellings that are enforcable. If it is deemed after these regulations, are put in place that there is excessive profit to be made from the lettings industry then I would approve of a levy to fund new house supply. I do suspect though that decent landlords after the implementation of "tenant freindly" rent controlls andminimum standards, may not have so much "profit" as to practically enforce such a levy. what we do not want is the lettings industry to be over taxed so that repauirs etc acannot be done. What we want is a viable industry with rents as low as possible for tenants and then a levy if the profits are still considered to high..

Governments implement policies that directly and indirectly impact on house prices. Do you think house prices are too high?

organisation: Generation Rent

House prices are too high mainly due to a shortage of supply. The Green Party manifesto is for 500 000 new homes to be built beofre 2020.

The right of parents to remain with their children in hospital has been established for over forty years. How would you ensure carers of people with dementia are equally welcome in hospital?

organisation: John's Campaign

I see no reason as to why carers of peopel with dementia are not given the same rights as parents to remain with their children in hospital.

To what degree should access to information on the internet be restricted by the state or private companies?

organisation: Open Rights Group (ORG)

There should be greater control on the access to information on the internet by the state or private companies and that well-defined exceptional circumstances should be the only reason for access to such information and such should be allowed rarely. Certainly information passed to one company should not be "sold on" to others.
